At the start of each season,
lacrosse players in our girls program each receive a team uniform consisting
of a shirt and kilt. This uniform must be returned to the league at the
end of the season. In addition to the uniform, all players must supply
their own sticks, goggles, mouth guards, gloves (optional), footwear,
practice ball, and practice jersey. The Titans supply goalie and miscellaneous
team equipment.

Game Uniform
Must be washed and handled with care by players during
the season. If not returned to the league on time at the end of the season,
a fee will be charged. |

Practice Jersey
Must be worn to all practices. Players can purchase these
red jerseys, with the players last name printed in white letters on the
back side, for about $15 at Ryan & Sons Family Sports and Embroidery
store in Attleboro. |

Stick |
The cost of lacrosse sticks can vary widely. They typically
begin at about $30.00, but can go well into the hundreds. Be prepared,
the more your child plays the game and has the opportunity to check out
other players' sticks, the more likely she is to want to purchase a newer,
more expensive, more "cool" stick. Please remember, girls sticks
are not designed the same as boys sticks. You need to buy a girls lacrosse
stick.
Once you purchase a stick, please refer to our handout
for sizing the stick to your child's body size, and if you're up for it,
our handout for dyeing the head of your stick with crazy colors and patterns.

Goggles |
Goggles tend to range in price from $40 to $70. Based
on our experience in past years with plastic frames fogging up on cold
rainy days, we highly recommend that you purchase wire-frame goggles for
your child.
It may take awhile for your child to get used to wearing
goggles, but the more they wear this protective eye wear, the faster it
will seem normal to them. Goggles come in various sizes, so if your child
has a small head (probably on the U11 team) and you are having difficulty
finding a mini version, remember that you can check online to order a
pair from one of the online stores listed at the bottom of this page rather
than buying the bigger version and hoping that it will be fine. |
|

Mouth Guard |
Mouth guards typically cost anywhere from $2 to $20.
Regardless of how much you pay, your child's teeth are important to us.
Therefore, it is required that children wear a mouth guard at all times
when throwing and catching the ball. You may even want to consider having
your child keep an extra one in their lacrosse bag in case something happens
to the one they regularly use.
Also, please note that the MBYLL rule is that girls
cannot have protruding tabs from their mouth guards. So, even though they
sell some really appealing mouth guards with ropes attached to them so
that players can hang them around their necks, don't waste your money.
During the team lineup before each game, the referees will check mouth
guards and make the players cut off any portion of the mouth guard that
juts out from the main body of the piece. |
|

Gloves |
Girls lacrosse gloves will sell for $20 to $30. Gloves
are optional. However, when making the decision whether to purchased them,
keep these two things in mind:
We have been known
to play on some cold, rainy days and playing with warm fingers is better
than playing with cold ones.
If you
are playing on the U15 team, girls play with modified checking. Though
players don't aim for their opponents hands on purpose, they may occasionally
strike one in their attempt to dislodge the ball from their opponent's
crosse. Gloves offer some protection when this occurs.

|

Cleats |
We noticed on our fields this past season, that girls
cleats are coming in a lot of fashionable colors. Cleats are about $20
and up. You do not need to purchase any type of special lacrosse cleats.
If your child already has a pair of rubber-soled cleats that they use
to play soccer, they will do fine. |
|

Lacrosse Ball |
You can buy lacrosse balls for around $2 to $4. Each
player will be required to have their own ball that they bring to practices.
To distinguish their ball from the those belonging to other players, we
hold a ball decorating contest at the start of the season. Girls use markers,
paint, finger nail polish or whatever they can think of to design and
decorate their ball. |
|

Lacrosse Bag |
Lacrosse bags come in all sorts of styles and price
ranges. They start at about $15 and can go up to around $70. They include
the traditional shoulder bag style shown on the left, slingpacks, backpacks,
and duffle bags. The type of bag you purchase and how much you want to
pay is up to you. You don't need one to play in the league, but you may
want to consider purchasing one. They come in handy for players carting
around their stuff.
One recommendation that we would make is if you buy
the traditional shoulder bag style, make sure it has a separate pocket
to hold goggles, gloves, and mouth guard. Its easier to store and access
these items when they are in their own compartment. |
Purchasing equipment:
If you need to purchase girls lacrosse gear, you can purchase
equipment from local dealers, such as Dick’s Sporting Goods on Rte. 1
in North Attleboro, Olympia Sports at the Emerald Square Mall, or online
at a variety of sites, such as these:

lacrosse equipment and to take orders if you are interested. |
